DESCRIPTION:
France, hour repeating carriage clock in the form of a sedan chair, the gilt and silvered brass case with faux repousse rococo style ornament, case sides with well executed portraits of a young woman within pink guilloche and polychrome enamel frames, the top with scrolled brackets supporting a fleur de lis finial, Roman numeral gilt metal dial, also with pink guilloche and polychrome enamel surround, the dial above a small, painted garden scene, blued steel hands, 8 day, time and strike movement with lever platform, counting the hours on a gong, and repeating the last hour on demand
CONDITION:
dirty, silvered surfaces tarnished, losses to silver and gilt finishes, pink enamel with minor hairlines and discoloration, oval garden scene with repaired split, beveled glass with minor chips at lower right, dial and hands good, running, striking and repeating correctly. A very nice example, in unrestored condition.
